Debi Leavis is the new Guidance Secretary at Westford Academy. She previously worked at Stony Brook for several years.

Q: Where did you go to college?

A: I actually went to Northeastern, and I only went there for about two and a half years and then I had a baby so I never finished college.

Q: What did you Major in?

A: Business, I was taking business and finance.

Q: Where did you go to highschool?

A: I went to high school at Shawsheen  Tech, which is a Technical high school, and I studied business in there which is secretarial.

Q: Did you ever want to go back to college?

A: Yes, it’s a dream of mine, I always wished to go back and finish college.

Q: What did you graduate with?

A: I graduated with a business degree at Shawsheen Tech.

Q: If you were to go back, would you go to Northeastern again, or would you try somewhere else?

A: I would go back to Northeastern, I loved it, the teachers were great, and the professors were great.

Q: What is your job here at school?

A: I’m the Guidance Secretary I hand all the collage visits, I do the PSATs, SAT registrations, and I, myself, will do all the scholarship awards at the end of the year, so that’s a big job.

Q: How do you like WA so far?

A: I love it, the people here have been wonderful, and it’s great to see the students here all grown up compared to Stony Brook.

Q: So, you’ve worked at Stony before?

A: I did, I worked at Stony Brook since 2008, and I just left this past July, and I was leaving to try something different, and guidance opened up and I loved it, I jumped on it.

Q: What are you looking forward to most here?

A: Getting to know all the students I only knew half from Stony Brook, and the other half from Blanchard I didn’t know so I would love to see them, and get to know them and see them graduate.

Q: Have you seen any familiar faces so far?

A: I have seen many familiar faces, and it’s funny because I’ll sit at my desk, and kids will look in the door and say “Mrs. Leavis? Mrs. Leavis!” and start jumping up and down.

Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?

A: I love to read, I love to walk, play with my dogs, take them for walks if they behave.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A: I would just like to add that if more students recognize me, or want to come in, feel free, they can come in anytime.
