Sports Picks of the Week 4/26-5/3

By Sameer Kini
Sports Editor

This week, both national and WA have great games to watch. Here are my picks of the week.

National – NBA Playoffs. The playoffs roll on for the NBA as the first round matchups should finish up this week. The C’s looked impressive in their sweep of the Knicks, looking especially strong in their two road games. Even though the Heat stumbled to fall to 3-1 in the series, I expect them to move on past the Pacers. To close out who I have through to the next round, I would take the Bulls, Hawks, Grizzlies, Thunder, Mavericks and Lakers.

The one second round matchup I would like to feature is the Celtics vs. the Heat. While it is not official yet, I see the Heat handling the Pacers and avoiding an epic collapse. However, if they were to collapse, take the C’s in 5. But when the Celtics do play the Heat, I expect a phenomenal matchup. With a week left in the regular season, Miami beat Boston to basically take away home court advantage, so that will be huge for them in the series. While my heart says Boston, I have to take the Heat in 6 or 7. Dwayne Wade has proven that he can be a dominant force in the playoffs, and I do not expect that to change. While the Celtics will give them a run for their money, I expect the Heat to move on and meet the Bulls in te Eastern Conference Finals.

WA – Boys Volleyball. This week the Grey Ghosts boys volleyball team has three big matchups, including a showdown at home with DCL rival Acton-Boxborough. First game of the week is on Wednesday against AB at home. Fans should surely head out to watch this game, as this rivalry is always exciting, and it should prove to be a great matchup. Next game comes Friday away at Cambridge Ringe & Latin. The last game of the week is on Monday, when the Grey Ghosts take on Newton South at home, which should prove to be an interesting game. Overall, I expect the Ghosts to pick up at least two wins this week, and I would not be surprised to see a sweep with the boys taking all three games.
