The WA Animal Rights League is holding a holiday pet supply drive for local animal shelters from December 4th to January 7th. Donation boxes will be placed outside the library and in the bell lobby near the main entrance. Lists of the needed supplies will be placed at those locations, and will be on some signs posted throughout the school. Donations will be brought to Greyhound Friends, the Lowell Humane Society, Kitty Angels, and Stray Pets in Need.
After the success of Best Buddy’s canned goods drive, the club is hoping for a similar response of generosity, so that these shelters can get the help that they need. Thousands of animals are currently waiting in shelters until they are adopted into new homes, and the number is growing. Between overpopulation and the struggling economy animals being abandoned do to struggling economy, more and more animals are filling these shelters. As a result, more and more shelters are struggling to stay afloat in order to care for them.
The supplies these shelters are in need of are: clean used towels, kitty litter (non clumping),blankets, quilts, or sheets, bird toys/treats,pillow cases, catnip, cushions, bunny chew toys, toys, environmentally friendly cleaners, food (wet or dry),scrubber sponges, treats, paper towels,cages/crates,kitchen garbage bags,cat/dog beds, ink cartridges, scratching posts, printer paper, and bowls.
They are also accepting any other supplies that you believe will help improve the lives of dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds or bunnies as they wait for a new home.
