With Spirit Week rapidly approaching, Mr. Wysokowski is putting finishing touches on the plans.
As a teacher at Westford Academy for the past three years, Mr. Wysokowski is involved with unicycle club as well as his new positions as student council advisor. He took over for Mr. Duffet who retired last year and is missed by all student council members.
When asked about his new responsibilities, Mr. Wysokowski replied, “While I am the advisor, the organization is run by students.” He offers advice and help when necessary but students essentially run the activities.
This year’s Spirit Week will involve Sports Day (Monday), Neon Day (Tuesday), Formal Day (Wednesday), Halloween Day (Thursday), and Class T-Shirt Day (Friday).
He expressed excitement about the Pep Rally activities. The activities will include balloon tag, ice cream sundae races, greased watermelon toss, eggs on spoons race, limbo and more!
Additionally he announced that the sumo suits have been ordered, and that his “wife was shocked when she opened the credit card bill”.
He also promised involvement from staff.
His advice to the freshmen: “Have fun, because it’s all about getting together with members of your class and supporting each other. Everyone pays their dues, and you’ll have your day as seniors in a few short years.”
As for whether or not they rig activities in favor of the seniors, he replied, “What a scandalous proposal. Are you implying that the seniors win only because the competition is rigged? In sports they call that bulletin board material. You hear that seniors? There’s your motivation!”
