The votes have been tallied, and the results are in! So, how do the senior winners of the yearbook superlatives feel?

Cory Trio got voted “Most Likely to Succeed.”

“I guess it’s kind of cool to get a superlative, but I had no idea I would,” said Trio. He expressed his astonishment at winning.

To some students like Trio, winning a superlative came as a surprise. To others, it wasn’t. Senior Barbara Morrison was voted the female “Loudest.”

“I never really shut up, so getting loudest was no surprise. I feel pretty neutral toward getting loudest, just because… It’s true,” said Morrison.

Other superlative winners included Rachel Socolow and Dana Kelley for “Most Individualistic,” and Krissy McCusker and Matt Higgins for “Hollywood Bound.”

Tien Chen, a skilled guitarist who has been seen performing at Café Night and at Relay for Life, was voted “Class Musician.”

“I was hoping to get cutest, you know, but I guess class musician is cool too,” joked Chen.

Other superlatives come with negative connotations, but these do not seem to bother the winners. Most of them find it amusing.

However, if a student expresses their disapproval in winning a superlative, they have the option of giving it back. In these cases, the runner up gets the superlative.

Superlative categories go from the generic “Best Dressed,” to the original and creative “Most Accident Prone.”

The superlative “Class Sunshine” winners were announced to be Laura Marinilli and Andrew Oughton.

“I’m so happy. This is definitely the superlative I wanted. It’s so me!” said Marinilli.

She was enthusiastic about winning and throughout the interview had a smile on her face. She was clearly living up to her superlative.

There are twenty-seven categories, and there have always been this many superlatives, at least since Gina Mustoe has been at Westford Academy and been the advisor for the yearbook.

“There is no question that they’re popularity contests,” said Mustoe.

She also noted, however, that when students look back they will have “fond memories.”
