It is a question that is probably on the minds of all the men at Westford Academy; “Where are all of the urinal targets?” They have been an unspoken secret here at WA for a few years, but now that they are gone, they are missed.

The targets were placed in the bottom of the bowl of the urinals and were intended for students to aim for and gain points. They were set up just like a dart board, with the highest points in the middle (a bull’s-eye) and incrementally less points moving towards the outside.

According to Head Custodian Rich McLaughlin, Night Custodian Peter Helms put the targets in place, and they have been there since 2000. They were left behind with the supplies from the old school, and so they were placed in the urinals.

McLaughlin does not know who removed them or why. It is a mystery to him and all of the student body at Westford Academy.

Students talked about what they thought when they first discovered the targets.

“It…made my experience a little more enjoyable,” Junior Solomon Say said.

These targets were really a way for students to unwind and lighten up for a couple of minutes, before returning to the stresses of high school.

“I thought they were a lot of fun. It’s pretty devastating,” Senior Craig Birrell said.

The real issue of this is the mystery of what happened to the urinal targets. There is a lot of speculation going on regarding who took them and why. Some students have theaories.

“I think that the custodian regretted the decision [to put them in] and removed them,” Sophomore Robert Gilman said. This is the overall feeling of all the male students.

“It brings down my day. It just makes the day a lot less fun,” said Senior Phil Coleman, summing up the whole feeling of the male student body regarding this issue at WA.
